The Nominee at Play

Last night on Washington Week in Review (PBS), Jeanne Cummings commented that she didn't think any questions about Sarah Palin's life were off limits. After all, Governor Palin had been offered, and had accepted, a position with the potential to make her President of the United States in the near future, and we know very little about her. We need to know as much about Governor Palin as possible, especially considering that her running mate, Senator McCain is 72 years old, and that her career has been short* and in a rather obscure part of the country.
The image above is one which the Governor obviously enjoyed having captured. One presumes this is one of the ways in which she likes to be seen. In any event, it may be useful for all of us in considering how we want to vote in November.
*Governor Palin has held statewide office for even less time than Senator Obama.

Well, someone did anyway. You may want to check out http://patterico.com/2008/09/02/sarah-palin-bikini-photo-fake/

You may also want to ask yourself where her five kids' worth of varicose veins are or, conversely, why she's been wearing the same pair of glasses since before her 19 year old son was born.

Or how many in-ground, outdoor pools they might have in Wasilla, Alaska.

I was unable to access the Web site provided by Agim Zabeli, though I did establish that it's an authentic site. Maybe its server is being overwhelmed. I did find another story on the same point, with what appears to be the original picture:

Google Earth view of the residential area of Wasilla, Alaska is blurry, but using Whitehorse, Yukon as rough comparable for climate, did not see any outdoor pools on a quick review. There may be some, though - and who knows whether the photo (if real) was taken eg on vacation in warmer place.

You're still alive! How the hell are you? Good to hear from you!

I'm truly impressed you thought to check Google Earth. Shoulda occurred to me but didn't.

Regardless, my post was a gimme. The fake photo was debunked a couple days ago and even somebody on Daily Kos posted the original photo and agreed the Palin pix was a hoax. As if somebody that knew anything about guns would get that excited about a pellet rifle.

Anyway, so what are you blogging about these days? I hear you guys have your own election coming up. Not that I can figure out why you'll bother. The Quebec party is standing for gun control and reduced greenhouse gases? Arguments over which party's official airplane leaves a bigger carbon footprint? Mon dieu! The pansification of the Great White North continues unabated! Greenhouse gases! Like maybe you won’t be able to ice-skate to work in Ottawa next February. Good luck with that.

Cross on over to the big time, my brother, where we got gun-slingin house-wives, misogynistic feminists, chain-smoking machine politicians from Chicago trumped as "the one" by Ivy-league educated liberal elites. I tell you, David Lynch couldn't have written the script for this election! Never would have been able to sell it. Would have been too farfetched.

On a serious note I thought of you (and the old Café – how I miss it!) a lot as I followed the Mark Steyn People’s Enemy Show Trials. I made a touch of fun of you when you shut down the Café and I apologize. I was wrong. I can see now why you were nervous about hosting a free-wheeling internet discussion board in Canada.

Drop a line, or check in at my (deservedly) humble blog some time.

God bless, bro.

Rgds,

Zabeli

Hi Zabeli, glad to chat! I'm not blogging much these days - too busy with the election (the real one!).

Just wanted to pass along a couple of comments re Palin.

First, great moniker "Wasilla the Hun" should be worth some mileage.

Second, wondered if this photo was a repeat of 2004 strategy re GWB natl guard records. That is, put out discoverable-fake document that shows he was awol, wait for flurry of indignation, then prove is fake. Any later evidence and commentary is defused. Wasilla the Hun has come and gone too quickly, but stay tuned - good strategy.

We've got Stephen Harper wanting to be either (a) GWB mini-me, or (2) boss. Pulled the plug because parliament was working, not because it was disfunctional as he claimed; about to really rake over coals re various scandals, election law violations. Anyway, we've got him now. The team is really coming together, am getting amazing response from volunteers. Delivering signs supply to one of our sign captains last night, started out with 26 but by time got to recipients house, only had 24 because of two other folks coming forward to get rid of the bastard.

Doesn't really matter about Dion being a bit soft, nice guy. Like a hockey team, the team captain does not have to be top player. We've got some guys to slam the cons into boards, and some others to really put the puck into the net. Harper is a one-trick poney. Challenge to Cdn political news fans: name five Harper cabinet ministers who are running again? Only one I can think of is that wimp Mckay, and we're co-operating with Lizzie May to axe him.

So our local guy will be mostly running against Harper, not his party mouthpiece who is a perma back-bencher. That's how we plan to frame it. And Harper hasn't the capacity to defend - too many of us attacking in too many localities.

What's your blog's URL?

"Wasilla the Hun".

Oh yeah. I like it.

I didn't know you were an organizer. Maybe you can be our next Democratic candidate! (Any chance you were born south of the border?) My guess is (Who am I kidding? We both know I know...)I would be on the other side in your election but good to know you're helping keep the place friendly for all those American movie stars that will feel compelled to announce they will have to "move to Canada" if the McCain/Palin ticket wins.

Listen, once they get there, would you guys be good enough to keep 'em for us? You need the tax money for your health-care system and I can't think of anything they do for us here, at least those of us that aren't bartenders, drug dealers, plastic surgeons or therapists.

For my blog just click on my name and you'll see it at the bottom of the profile. It's: http://two-masters.blogspot.com/

(Glenn, you don't mind if I borrow a reader, do you? My guess is it’ll be just for a minute. I don’t think Ken will find much to agree with at my blog but hey, you never know.)

Regards,

Zabeli

Agim, Agim, this is share the wealth country here! Yes, you have fallen among socialists! Or, maybe, just sociable folks. If I had wanted to keep my readers to myself, I wouldn't have put a link to Two Masters right up front on my site.

I don't care whether it's your blog, my blog, or Cafe Third Edition, but I'd love to capture some of the energy of the old Great Books Cafe.

Agim ... I've decided to address you by your first name, since I clearly cannot remember how many "l"s in your surname. Get the "l" out, you say?

Anyway, posted at Two Masters blog in an effort to share the wealth.

You asked about my blog. I did only three posts, then let it lapse. Not really keen on it. If others are to be writers, there must be readers, and I'm happy to perform that role. And comments do not have any responsbilities for ongoing dialogue, consistency etc. What could be more gadflyishly fun?

"Ken's View" - kensview.mirror1.org - a couple of photos and mention of an enjoyable film.
